As with all Striptease Symposium classes,
each class will start with warm-up, stretching and often cardio,
before focusing on dance technique, combinations and
practicums in make-up and costuming.

This series of classes will emphasize the tried and true
traditions of burlesque: 
FAN DANCING & TASSEL TWIRLING 

The last 2 weeks of class will be rehearsal for a group performance
that will be featured in the SHOW CASE burlesque show
(date and venue TBD)

These classes are also suited to those who may want to
drop in on a specific class: be it student, enthusiast or professional. 
Come learn a new technique!

SEPT 7th INTRODUCTION TO FAN DANCE:
THE ART OF CONCEAL AND REVEAL
A brief introduction and history to the art of fan dancing,
a review of the conceal and reveal concept and the choreography
you will perform on stage from Jewel of Denial

 

SEPT 14th BURLESQUE FAN CONSTRUCTION
Learn how to make a feather fan that has removable
feathers for a change of color
and easy storage with Penny Starr Jr’s secret technique. 
You will be taught the details of construction and
finish the fan at home. 
(Hot glue gun required to finish the project at home.)
Lab Fee:  $60 for feathers, fan base, hardware, fabric
and embellishments

 

SEPT 21st MY HAIR! BIGGER IS BETTER
WITH KAT BARDOT
Make-up Artiste Kat Bardot is back to show you the
various options in getting you hair
visible from the back row.  In addition to teaching
styling techniques, Kat will review hair pieces and wigs. 
A must if you want your visage to match your stage presence!

 

SEPT 28th MY FIRST FLYER! GROUP PHOTO TAKEN
Yes, students, it will be you featured on the flyer for the show! 
Bring your black embellished bra and shimmy belt and your
completed fan and come make-up ready for camera. 
After the photo is taken, it’s right back to warm-up and choreography!

 

OCT 5th BAUBLES, BANGLES & BEADS:
PASTIE CONSTRUCTION AND TASSLE TWIRLING
Learn how to make your own pasties, how to embellish
store bought ones, and how to add the hardware to make
guaranteed ‘twirlers’  (and ones with interchangeable
tassels!)  Then you’ll pop those on and a guest instructor
will show you the finer points of making those babies spin!
Lab Fee:  $20 for materials, rhinestones, glue,
tassels and hardware

OCT 12th FULL DRESS REHEARSAL FOR THE SHOW
Final review of the routine in preparation for the show!
Requirements for the show are
black heels (of any shape), nude fishnets,
embellished black bra and black shimmy belt*.
Show venue and date TBD

*Bra and shimmy belt constructed in Round Two are preferred. 
If this is your first time to Striptease Symposium, contact Jewel
to discuss options with costuming.

please arrive 15 min early to check-in

*class 'costume' should be fitted t-shirt or tank,
workout pants or shorts, and dance shoes
(any high heel, broken-in)

* no make-up classes or refunds
